Reservations are offered starting at 5:30pm with the last seating at 10:30pm.

We are offering a 3 course Prix Fixe seated dinner for $80 per person (see menu  – Click Here!)

**This does not include beverages, tax, gratuity or any requested menu add-ons.

**There is an optional add-on wine pairing package for an additional $40 per person.

Bob Busa is a guitarist/vocalist, an alumni of Berklee College of Music. Started performing at the age of 12. Led his own band for many years playing in night clubs, social and corporate events, and as a sideman with big bands and artists such as: Dick Johnson Swing Shift, Tom LaMark Orchestra, Florence Henderson, Mills Brothers, Frankie Lane, Bobby Rydell, Lorna Luft and others. Shared stage with Temptations, Martha and the Vandellas, James Taylor, and many more.

From Johannesburg South Africa. Pianist Witness Matlou is a composer and performer whose work is influenced by South African folk music, Contemporary classical music,  jazz, and other world music. Witness earned his Master’s degree from the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, where he studied with Grammy winning pianist Danilo Perez, Terri Lyne Carrington, John Patitucci, George Garzone and Joe Lovano, whom he has performed with at the Lincoln Center and the Monterey Jazz Festival. Witness has shared the stage with other great artists such as Gary Burton, Yoron Israel, John Lockwood, and Antonio Sanchez.

Witness has toured in Europe, Africa, Latin America, and the United States. He has performed at the North Sea Jazz Festival, Twin Cities Jazz Festival, Panama Jazz Festival, and the Kennedy Center to name a few. After receiving his Master’s degree, Witness was awarded a Post-Master’s Fellowship in 2017 at the Berklee Global Jazz Institute, and he is currently at Harvard University for his second fellowship where he is learning from Vijay Iyer.

Matlou grew up listening to mbaqanga, kwela, and marabi music, such elements are often reflected in his music. His compositions reflect and sound the vibrant energy of life in the townships of Johannesburg, South Africa, where he grew up and the ethnic and cultural diversity of the country. Embracing the effect that forms the basis between music and language, through experimentation with time, rhythm, harmony and melodic inventions.

A native of the Boston, MA area, John Funkhouser (piano, bass) studied classical piano from the age of seven, and classical bass from age nine. He majored in music theory at Cornell University and returned to Boston to earn a Masters degree from New England Conservatory in jazz piano, bass and composition in 1995. After four years living in New York City, John again returned to Boston in 2000 to raise a family, perform, and teach at Berklee College of Music. 

Funkhouser takes an active interest in a wide spectrum of music, including all kinds of jazz, from avant-garde to straight ahead to New Orleans Jazz, Brazilian and Afro-Cuban music, folk music of Eastern Europe, the Balkans, and Africa, American popular music, including funk, rock, blues, bluegrass, and hiphop, Classical from Gregorian chant to 21st century music, Hindustani and Carnatic Classical music of India, Balinese and Javanese Gamelan, and all kinds of hybrids between these various traditions. 

Funkhouser is in demand as a jazz bassist and pianist, participating in an array of musical projects with the Northeast’s most accomplished and creative musicians. He has shared the stage with such luminaries as Grammy nominees Luciana Souza and Tierney Sutton, Steve Gadd, Abe Laboriel Sr., Max Weinberg, South Indian percussion master Trichy Sankaran, Ran Blake, Herb Pomeroy, Natraj, Yoron Israel, Laszlo Gardony, Ron Savage, Bob Gulotti, Rick Peckham, Phil Grenadier, piano savant Matt Savage, and Mark Harvey’s Aardvark Jazz Orchestra. Along with Ran Blake, Herb Pomeroy and John Harbison, he was a featured soloist with the MIT Wind Ensemble’s world premier of Mark Harvey’s magnum opus, “Beyond.” 

Funkhouser’s discography includes over 40 CDs, featuring him in various roles, including leader, pianist, bassist, arranger, and producer, including three CDs as leader/pianist of the John Funkhouser Trio, six CDs with the Aardvark Jazz Orchestra, five CDs with Matt Savage, two CDs with Willie Myette’s “Katahdin’s Edge,” two CDs with Pierre Hurel, and various CDs in a wide variety of styles with leaders including James Merenda, Philippe Cretien, and David Thorne Scott.

Terms & Conditions All dinner reservations on Valentine’s Day require a valid credit card to secure the reservation and agree to the prix fixe per person package.  Guests may cancel their reservation up to 48 hours in advance and will not be charged.  You must call us at 617.542.5108 to cancel.  Calls to cancel must be received no later than 10PM EST on Wednesday February 12th 2020.  For any cancellations after 10PM EST on Wednesday February 12th 2020, the guest will be sent a Les Zygomates gift card for the full reserved menu package amount.  “No show” reservations will be charged the full amount with no refunds or gift cards given.  Changes in time or number of guests in a reservation will be addressed to the best of our ability; however, these changes may result in a wait to be seated or a change in location of requested table. Les Zygomates reserves the right to adjust the status and/or location of all reservations at any time.

At Brewer – Clifton, there is an utmost respect for nature. We believe that when working with a product of nature, it is necessary to always maintain an awareness of the elements and phenomena that are sometimes beyond our total understanding and control. If at any time that level of sensitivity is lessened, we risk the unavoidable degradation of the very goals that we are trying to pursue. As such, any intervention in the natural evolution of the product must be carried out with the utmost attentiveness and care.

We believe that the geographic, geologic and climatic uniqueness of the Sta. Rita Hills appellation provides an ideal place to grow chardonnay and pinot noir grapes of intensity, complexity and specificity. Within this appellation, each vineyard carries its own imprint. Our mission and indeed our passion is to present wines that convey the characteristics inherent to each of these sites, with uncompromising quality.


A word about Greg Brewer:

GREG BREWER – WINEMAKER
Greg Brewer’s primary focus in the winery is the pursuit of refinement. He is engaged in every aspect of his work, from vineyard to market, and every level of the process is given equal priority. To him, a mindful approach where strategic and efficient actions are taken to incorporate the needs of the entire ecosystem creates a confident and calming environment, a space where everyone and everything is appreciated. The goal is the beauty and synchronicity of the system. The result is wine that is honest and driven, expressive of the place and the team who collectively steward them.

Greg has always followed a distinct and deliberate arc in his work, where the priority is service, subtracting extraneous elements and minimizing the insertion of self. He reveres the repetitive and monastic nature of the winemaking craft, and after 25 years in the business is firmly committed to the immediate task at hand. This focus shifts the motivation behind the wine from ego towards humility. For Greg, it is only along this path that the resultant product conveys the sincerity and vulnerability that is his goal, both personally and professionally.

Greg started his career as a French instructor at UC Santa Barbara before being trained in wine production at Santa Barbara Winery starting in 1991. He created his eponymous label, Brewer-Clifton with original partner Steve Clifton in 1996 and later designed Melville where he worked as winemaker from its inception in 1997 through the end of 2015. Greg additionally created diatom focusing on starkly raised Chardonnay, as well as Ch.igai Takaha, which is marketed predominantly in Japan. The entirety of his career has been committed to the Sta. Rita Hills appellation, which he helped to map, define and establish in 1997.

Les Zygomates Winebar & Bistro Proudly Presents:

A Three Course Dinner & Cooking Demo

with Executive Chef Guara Pimenta

Add-on Wine Pairing and discussion curated by our Certified Sommelier Ashley Kompass

Indulge and learn in a comfortable & private setting while Chef Guara teaches you detailed preparation and cooking techniques.  Guests will receive the complete recipie of the main entree (menu below), including everything from butchery, ingredients to cooking method.  

Sommelier Ashley will be discussing proper techniques in pairing wines with food – and for guests opting to purchase the add-on wine pairing with the dinner, will be giving detailed notes on the paired wines, along with her techniques in choosing the wines for the dinner.

Tickets for the 3 Course Dinner and Cooking Demo are $65 per guest.

Guests wishing to add the wine pairing will enjoy 3 wines – 1 paired with each course – for an additional $30.

The wine pairing cannot be purchased separately as it is only offered as a part of the dinner.  However, our wine list will be available for those wishing to enjoy a glass of wine (or other beverage) with their meal.

Main Entree:
